Instructions for using this website

by admin last modified Jul 28, 2006 11:02 AM

The following are some instructions for using this web page.

Obtaining an Account

To obtain an account, please email the webpage administrator at soren@stoutner.org.  I need to know your desired username and password.  You can change your password after the account is created.

Posting

Once you log in, you will be able to edit your home folder.  Your folder is where you will post.  To do this click on My Folder near the upper right of the screen.  Inside your home folder you will be able to post News Items, Calendar Events, Pictures, and pretty much anything else you desire.  The first three tabs at the top of the screen--Home, Calendar, and Pictures--contain a collection of all the News Items, Calendar Events, and Pictures posted on the site.  You cannot edit them directly.  To add a News Item, go to your folder, click on Add item at the upper right of the screen, and click on News Item.  To add a Calendar Event click on Event.  For a picture choose Image.  When you add one of these items to your home folder it is automatically added to the main three folders with all the other News Items, Events, and Pictures from the site.  You may also want to create subfolders to help you organize your content.

Security Settings

There are three security settings on Stallicks: Private, Members, and Published.  If something is marked Private only you can see it.  If something is marked Members other members who are logged in can see it.  If something is marked Published anyone can see it, even if they are not logged in.  Whenever you create an item it is automatically marked Members.  You can change this by clicking on State in the upper right corner.

Editing Something after it's been Published

Except for Don and Barbara's accounts, you cannot edit something when it's in the Published state.  You must first change the state back to Members.  Then you can edit it and republish.
