- The interesting thing about this statue is that there are no paintings of this individual so Brother Rotellini used a grandson as a model. It must have been a painting or photo of the grandson since the revolution was in 1844.

- This was on the stand by the full body statue of Durate at the university. Sorry about cutting the last i off his name. It was right down against the ground so I couldn't get down to see through the viewfinder what the camera was seeing.

- Enriquillo was a Taino Indian who is credited with having met Columbus. The Indians helped Columbus when his ship was damaged on a reef as it entered port. Columbus's men rewarded the Indians with violence and slavery. Enriquillo and others led a revolt but were no match for the weapons and diseases of the white men. The statue is reminiscent of Arnold Friberg's Nephi.

- Brother Rotellini currently makes these pieces which are numbered as Urbana out of a very hard wood like ironwood. He says they sell for approximately $3000 each and it takes him about five weeks to make one.

- I keep thinking what a wonderful name Rotellini is for a sculptor. It has ring to it that any number of other names would not have.
