Elder and Sister Carrillos digitally film imigration records.
Richard and Linda Carrillo are from Eager, Arizona. They grew up in the same small town and were high school sweethearts. He was not LDS but all of his friends were. He didn't join the church until after they were married because no one asked him to. His parents spoke Spanish at home so he grew up hearing it but he was the youngest of nine children and the children spoke English in school. He is the only American who grew up knowing Spanish.
The records they are filming were required by a dictator by the name of Trujillo. They are filming in the 1940's. Many of the records are of Haitains who came here to work. There is prejudice against Haitians here and there was a bloodbath when something like 45,000 were killed during Trujillo's dictatorship. Haitians do not fear to be here now and many come to work. Many street vendors are Haitian. Among other immigrants were German Jews.
