Christmas Letter

Elder and Hna Fallick wish you a Merry Christmas

We wish you a Merry Christmas from the land of perpetual sunshine (the coldest place is inside our apartment and the sister's spot by the recommend desk), occasional really hard rains, and palm trees. The Christmas spirit is alive and well here. We've been singing Christmas hymns in our daily preparation meetings since mid-October.

Both Don and I have all of the ordinances memorized in Spanish and I am working on learning them in English now. Then I will work on French. Don is busier than I in the temple and learns more on the run than deliberately.

What I wish I had brought and didn't: all of my discs of saved pictures. Who would have thought I would meet Ben's uncle and want to show him pictures of Mary and Ben's wedding? Who would have thought I would want a picture of Lydia as baby Jesus? Don wishes he'd brought lots of Ibuprofen (they sell it 25 cents a pill here). The hard floors in the temple and in our apartment are irritating his heel.

What I wondered about bringing and am glad I did: my printer. Don is glad for his guitar and is getting a lot of use out of it.

Don actually enjoys Dominican driving and Barbara hasn't had a heart attack yet, although some other passengers in the van just about did once.  Now Don's trying to live down his reputation.

Things we love here: The Temple, the people, the pelicans, the mangoes, the fresh and constantly available pineapples and avacodoes the size of soft balls, home evenings with other senior missionaries, the wonderful missionary spirit.

What we miss: ice cream we can afford (you can buy 1/2 gallon 31 flavors for $21), the babies, home teaching, visits to our kids, soft floors, and really hot water (we are supposed to have hot water but that is a lukewarm mystery).

We are grateful for webcams and videos and emails and Skype.

Click on the folder below which says Christmas Letter 2006. This folder will open up with thumbnail of each of our kids and their families. If you click on the thumbnail, you'll get a bigger picture and a brief update about that family.

May you come to know Him better whose birth we celebrate.

Love,
Elder and Hna. Fallick.
