- We celebrated our Thanksgiving Dinner instead of Home Evening because the Temple is open on the real day of Thanksgiving and it is not a holiday celebrated here.

- On New Year's Day, the Senior Missionaries from Casa de Huespedes, the area authority, the Hansens, and a couple of Senior Missionary couples serving in Santiago (a city a couple of hours north of Santo Domingo) went to the church camp.

- The youth of a local ward did a patriotic dance program for us as well as some merangue. Merangue is sort of a hula and square dance to a samba beat.
