We're OK. If any of you have been checking the news from Dominican Repulic, you may have heard about the "Huelga General" (general strike) called for today and tomorrow to protest government economic policies and other issues. In the DR, these sometimes turn violent, and the cops have been known to shoot innoocent bystanders, so we're staying in. We haven't seen ANY indications of a strike yet today. Everything seems very much business as usual in our neighborhood. Even the construction workers building our new parking lot showed up for work this morning as usual.
The only thing different that I know about is that Sister Petersen, the Temple Matron, was planning to go shopping for Thanksgiving turkeys this afternoon, but President Petersen, who knew of the strike, forgot to warn her, so now she has to wait until Saturday or Monday. Attached is a scanned image of President Petersen's memo about the strike.
